    BATF plays a key role in the differentiation of T helper cell subsets and Ig class-switching. Apart from that we suggest an important function in mast cell development and in murine models of allergic asthma, it was observed that mice deficient for Batf are protected from the disease. Hence, the previous findings on BATF make it an interesting target for the treatment of Th cell-derived-cytokine-driven diseases.
