Fetal growth restriction- MedGen UID:
- 4693
- •Concept ID:
- C0015934
- •
- Pathologic Function
An abnormal restriction of fetal growth with fetal weight below the tenth percentile for gestational age.
Feeding difficulties in infancy- MedGen UID:
- 436211
- •Concept ID:
- C2674608
- •
- Finding
Impaired feeding performance of an infant as manifested by difficulties such as weak and ineffective sucking, brief bursts of sucking, and falling asleep during sucking. There may be difficulties with chewing or maintaining attention.
Seizure- MedGen UID:
- 20693
- •Concept ID:
- C0036572
- •
- Sign or Symptom
A seizure is an intermittent abnormality of nervous system physiology characterized by a transient occurrence of signs and/or symptoms due to abnormal excessive or synchronous neuronal activity in the brain.
Hypsarrhythmia- MedGen UID:
- 195766
- •Concept ID:
- C0684276
- •
- Finding
Hypsarrhythmia is abnormal interictal high amplitude waves and a background of irregular spikes. There is continuous (during wakefulness), high-amplitude (>200 Hz), generalized polymorphic slowing with no organized background and multifocal spikes demonstrated by electroencephalography (EEG).
Infantile spasms- MedGen UID:
- 854616
- •Concept ID:
- C3887898
- •
- Disease or Syndrome
Infantile spasms represent a subset of "epileptic spasms". Infantile Spasms are epileptic spasms starting in the first year of life (infancy).
Abnormal diffusion weighted cerebral MRI morphology- MedGen UID:
- 1716407
- •Concept ID:
- C5397636
- •
- Finding
A diffusion abnormality observed in diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the brain. Molecular diffusion refers to the notion that any type of molecule in a fluid (eg, water) is randomly displaced as the molecule is agitated by thermal energy. Restricted diffusion of water appears bright on diffusion-weighted images.
Respiratory failure requiring assisted ventilation- MedGen UID:
- 870821
- •Concept ID:
- C4025279
- •
- Finding
A state of respiratory distress that requires a life saving intervention in the form of gaining airway access and instituting positive pressure ventilation.
Lactic acidosis- MedGen UID:
- 1717
- •Concept ID:
- C0001125
- •
- Disease or Syndrome
An abnormal buildup of lactic acid in the body, leading to acidification of the blood and other bodily fluids.
Metabolic acidosis- MedGen UID:
- 65117
- •Concept ID:
- C0220981
- •
- Pathologic Function
Metabolic acidosis (MA) is characterized by a fall in blood pH due to a reduction of serum bicarbonate concentration. This can occur as a result of either the accumulation of acids (high anion gap MA) or the loss of bicarbonate from the gastrointestinal tract or the kidney (hyperchloremic MA). By definition, MA is not due to a respirary cause.
Optic atrophy- MedGen UID:
- 18180
- •Concept ID:
- C0029124
- •
- Disease or Syndrome
Atrophy of the optic nerve. Optic atrophy results from the death of the retinal ganglion cell axons that comprise the optic nerve and manifesting as a pale optic nerve on fundoscopy.
Optic disc pallor- MedGen UID:
- 108218
- •Concept ID:
- C0554970
- •
- Finding
A pale yellow discoloration of the optic disc (the area of the optic nerve head in the retina). The optic disc normally has a pinkish hue with a central yellowish depression.
Decreased activity of mitochondrial complex I- MedGen UID:
- 393796
- •Concept ID:
- C2677650
- •
- Finding
A reduction in the activity of the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex I, which is part of the electron transport chain in mitochondria.
