REFERENCE 1 (bases 1 to 2947) AUTHORS Malnic,B., Godfrey,P.A. and Buck,L.B. TITLE The human olfactory receptor gene family JOURNAL Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A 101 (8), 2584-2589 (2004) PUBMED 14983052 REMARK Erratum:[Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A. 2004 May 4;101(18):7205] COMMENT VALIDATED REFSEQ: This record has undergone validation or preliminary review. The reference sequence was derived from AC131574.4. On Aug 5, 2020 this sequence version replaced NM_001005165.1. Summary: Olfactory receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, to initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell. The olfactory receptor proteins are members of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) arising from single coding-exon genes. Olfactory receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and are responsible for the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. Sequence Note: The RefSeq transcript and protein were derived from genomic sequence to make the sequence consistent with the reference genome assembly. The genomic coordinates used for the transcript record were based on alignments. ##RefSeq-Attributes-START## MANE Ensembl match :: ENST00000641726.1/ ENSP00000493085.1 RefSeq Select criteria :: based on single protein-coding transcript ##RefSeq-Attributes-END## PRIMARY REFSEQ_SPAN PRIMARY_IDENTIFIER PRIMARY_SPAN COMP 1-86 AC131574.4 20294-20379 c 87-2947 AC131574.4 13929-16789 c FEATURES Location/Qualifiers source 1..2947 /organism="Homo sapiens" /mol_type="mRNA" /db_xref="taxon:9606" /chromosome="11" /map="11p15.4" gene 1..2947 /gene="OR52E4" /gene_synonym="OR11-55" /note="olfactory receptor family 52 subfamily E member 4" /db_xref="GeneID:390081" /db_xref="HGNC:HGNC:15213" exon 1..86 /gene="OR52E4" /gene_synonym="OR11-55" /inference="alignment:Splign:2.1.0" exon 87..2947 /gene="OR52E4" /gene_synonym="OR11-55" /inference="alignment:Splign:2.1.0" misc_feature 92..94 /gene="OR52E4" /gene_synonym="OR11-55" /note="upstream in-frame stop codon" CDS 161..1099 /gene="OR52E4" /gene_synonym="OR11-55" /note="olfactory receptor OR11-55" /codon_start=1 /product="olfactory receptor 52E4" /protein_id="NP_001005165.1" /db_xref="CCDS:CCDS31401.1" /db_xref="GeneID:390081" /db_xref="HGNC:HGNC:15213" /translation="MPSINDTHFYPPFFLLLGIPGLDTLHIWISFPFCIVYLIAIVGN MTILFVIKTEHSLHQPMFYFLAMLSMIDLGLSTSTIPKMLGIFWFNLQEISFGGCLLQ MFFIHMFTGMETVLLVVMAYDRFVAICNPLQYTMILTNKTISILASVVVGRNLVLVTP FVFLILRLPFCGHNIVPHTYCEHRGLAGLACAPIKINIIYGLMVISYIIVDVILIASS YVLILRAVFRLPSQDVRLKAFNTCGSHVCVMLCFYTPAFFSFMTHRFGQNIPHYIHIL LANLYVVVPPALNPVIYGVRTKQIREQIVKIFVQKE" misc_feature 173..175 /gene="OR52E4" /gene_synonym="OR11-55" /note="N-linked (GlcNAc...) asparagine. /evidence=ECO:0000255;
