glutamate-5-semialdehyde dehydrogenase
glutamate-5-semialdehyde dehydrogenase catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of L-gamma-glutamyl 5-phosphate into L-glutamate 5-semialdehyde and phosphate in the L-proline biosynthetic pathway (PBP)
Catalyzes the phosphorylation of L-glutamate during the proline biosynthesis pathway
The related HMM TIGR01092 describes a full-length fusion protein delta l-pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase that includes a gamma-glutamyl phosphate reductase region as described by this model. Alternate name: glutamate-5-semialdehyde dehydrogenase. The prosite motif begins at residue 332 of the seed alignment although not all of the members of the family exactly obey the motif.
