preprotein translocase subunit SecE
preprotein translocase subunit SecE is an essential subunit of the Sec protein translocation channel SecYEG and it clamps together the 2 halves of SecY; may contact the channel plug during translocation
This HMM represents exclusively the bacterial (and some organellar) SecE protein. SecE is part of the core heterotrimer, SecYEG, of the Sec preprotein translocase system. Other components are the ATPase SecA, a cytosolic chaperone SecB, and an accessory complex of SecDF and YajC.
