proline racemase family protein
This family consists of proline racemase (EC 5.1.1.4) proteins which catalyse the interconversion of L- and D-proline in bacteria [1]. This family also contains several similar eukaryotic proteins including Swiss:Q9NCP4 a sequence with B-cell mitogenic properties which has been characterised as a co-factor-independent proline racemase [2]. proline racemase family protein similar to trans-3-hydroxy-L-proline (t3LHyp) dehydratase (aka 4-hydroxyproline 2-epimerase) that catalyzes the dehydration of t3LHyp to delta(1)-pyrroline-2-carboxylate (Pyr2C), and the epimerization of trans-4-hydroxy-L-proline (t4LHyp) to cis-4-hydroxy-D-proline (c4DHyp)
