3TM-type holin
Holins in this family are relatively large, averaging over 165 amino acids in length. Most members of this family are encoded adjacent to an N-acetylmuramidase that depends on the holin for its ability to reach and act on peptidoglycan. At least some systems encoding this type of holin are gene transfer agents, rather than phage, and may allow particle escape without lysis of the host cell.
