aminotransferase class I/II-fold pyridoxal phosphate-dependent enzyme
succinyldiaminopimelate transaminase
This family of actinobacterial succinyldiaminopimelate transaminase enzymes (DapC) are members of the PF00155 superfamily. Many of these genes appear adjacent to other genes encoding enzymes of the lysine biosynthesis via diaminopimelate pathway (GenProp0125). At least some members of this family have additional activities. Some double as glutamate-prephenate aminotransferase (EC 2.6.1.79), serving a role in alternate pathway to phenylalanine and tyrosine via arogenate.
