deoxyribose-phosphate aldolase (DERA) catalyzes a reversible aldol reaction between acetaldehyde and glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate to generate 2-deoxyribose 5-phosphate.
Involved in catabolism of nucleotides and deoxyribonucleotides; catalyzes the formation of D-glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and acetaldehyde from 2-deoxy-D-ribose-5-phosphate.
