PHB de-polymerase C-terminus
This family represents the C-terminus of bacterial poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) de-polymerase. This degrades PHB granules to oligomers and monomers of 3-hydroxy-butyric acid. [1]. 12813072. Ralstonia eutropha H16 encodes two and possibly three intracellular Poly[D-(-)-3-hydroxybutyrate] depolymerase genes. York GM, Lupberger J, Tian J, Lawrence AG, Stubbe J, Sinskey AJ;. polyhydroxyalkanoate depolymerase
polyhydroxyalkanoate depolymerase similar to Ralstonia eutropha poly[D-(-)-3-hydroxybutyrate] (PHB) depolymerase PhaZ3 that degrades PHB granules to oligomers and monomers of 3-hydroxybutyric acid
This HMM represents an intracellular depolymerase for polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), a carbon and energy storing polyester that accumulates in granules in many bacterial species when carbon sources are abundant but other nutrients are limiting. This family is named for PHAs generally, rather than polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) specificially as in Ralstonia eutropha H16, to avoid overcalling chemical specificity in other species. Note that this family lacks the classic GXSXG lipase motif and instead shows weak similarity to some
