fructose-bisphosphatase class III
This family consists of several bacterial fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase proteins (EC:3.1.3.11) which seem to be specific to phylum Firmicutes. Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBPase) is a well known enzyme involved in gluconeogenesis [1]. This family does not seem to be structurally related to Pfam:PF00316. [1]. 9696785. Identification and expression of the Bacillus subtilis fructose-1, 6-bisphosphatase gene (fbp). Fujita Y, Yoshida K, Miwa Y, Yanai N, Nagakawa E, Kasahara Y;. J Bacteriol 1998;180:4309-4313.
