KR domain-containing protein

This enzymatic domain is part of bacterial polyketide synthases and catalyses the first step in the reductive modification of the beta-carbonyl centres in the growing polyketide chain. It uses NADPH to reduce the keto group to a hydroxy group [1]. [1]. 23790488. Structural and stereochemical analysis of a modular polyketide synthase ketoreductase domain required for the generation of a cis-alkene. 2,3-dihydro-2,3-dihydroxybenzoate dehydrogenase EntA

2,3-dihydroxybenzoate is used in the biosynthesis of enterobactin and a variety of other siderophores. EntA produces this compound for enterobactin biosynthesis, and engages in protein-protein interaction with EntE, the 2,3-dihydroxybenzoate-AMP ligase from that system.

2,3-dihydro-2,3-dihydroxybenzoate dehydrogenase

Members of this family are 2,3-dihydro-2,3-dihydroxybenzoate dehydrogenase (EC 1.3.1.28), the third enzyme in the biosynthesis of 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid (DHB) from chorismate. The first two enzymes are isochorismate synthase (EC 5.4.4.2) and isochorismatase (EC 3.3.2.1). Synthesis is often followed by adenylation by the enzyme DHBA-AMP ligase (EC 2.7.7.58) to activate (DHB) for a non-ribosomal peptide synthetase.
