This family includes the BadF Swiss:O07462 and BadG Swiss:O07463 proteins that are two subunits of Benzoyl-CoA reductase, that may be involved in ATP hydrolysis. The family also includes an activase subunit from the enzyme 2-hydroxyglutaryl-CoA dehydratase Swiss:P11568. This domain is found in a set of closely related [4Fe-4S]-containing ATPases, including activators of (R)-2-hydroxyglutaryl-CoA dehydratase, (R)-phenyllactate dehydratase, lactoyl-CoA dehydratase, and benzoyl-CoA reductase, as well as the uncharacterized protein YjiL of E. coli. Characterized members of this family provide a key reactive electron that their cognate enzyme requires for activity, and can use for multiple reaction cycles until the electron is lost and needs to be replaced.
