phosphotransferase
This family consists of bacterial antibiotic resistance proteins, which confer resistance to various aminoglycosides they include: aminoglycoside 3'-phosphotransferase or kanamycin kinase / neomycin-kanamycin phosphotransferase and streptomycin 3''-kinase or streptomycin 3''-phosphotransferase. The aminoglycoside phosphotransferases inactivate aminoglycoside antibiotics via phosphorylation [2]. This family also includes homoserine kinase. This family is related to fructosamine kinase Pfam:PF03881. [1]. 2163618. Cloning of aminoglycoside phosphotransferase (APH) gene from antibiotic- producing strain of Bacillus circulans into a high-expression vector, pKK223-3. Purification, properties and location of the enzyme [published erratum appears in Biochem J 1991 Feb 1. Sarwar M, Akhtar M;. Biochem J 1990;268:671-677. [2]. 2167474. PCR cloning of a streptomycin phosphotransferase (aphE) gene from Streptomyces griseus ATCC 12475. Trower MK, Clark KG;. Nucleic Acids Res 1990;18:4615-4615. (from Pfam)
Choline/ethanolamine kinase
Choline kinase catalyses the committed step in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine by the CDP-choline pathway [1]. This alignment covers the protein kinase portion of the protein. The divergence of this family makes it very difficult to create a model that specifically predicts choline/ethanolamine kinases only. However if [add Pfam ID here for Choline_kinase_C] is also present then it is definitely a member of this family. [1]. 9506987. Expression, purification, and characterization of choline kinase, product of the CKI gene from Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Kim KH, Voelker DR, Flocco MT, Carman GM;. J Biol Chem 1998;273:6844-6852. (from Pfam)
phosphotransferase enzyme family protein
phosphotransferase enzyme family protein such as serine/threonine protein kinase RdoA, type II homoserine kinase, N-acetylhexosamine 1-kinase, hydroxylysine kinase, and amicoumacin kinase, all of which play crucial roles in transferring phosphate groups to specific substrates
