50S ribosomal protein L36
type B 50S ribosomal protein L36
The typical 50S ribosomal protein L36, encoded by rpmJ, is about 38 amino acids long, with a zinc-binding CxxC motif. This protein, a paralog of rpmJ encoded by ykgO (as named in Escherichia coli), lacks the zinc-binding site and replaces RpmJ when zinc availability is low.
ribosomal protein bL36
ribosomal protein bL36 is a component of the large ribosomal subunit 50S
L36 encoded by rpmJ is a zinc-binding ribosomal protein of very small size, about 38 amino acids, with a conserved CxxC motif. The rpmJ version can be replaced by an alternate version without zinc, encoded by ykgO (see PRK00831.1).
