transposase

Transposase proteins are necessary for efficient DNA transposition. This family includes IS66 from Agrobacterium tumefaciens [2]. [1]. 8167368. An open reading frame downstream of Rhizobium meliloti nodQ1 shows nucleotide sequence similarity to an Agrobacterium tumefaciens insertion sequence. Schwedock J, Long SR;. Mol Plant Microbe Interact 1994;7:151-153. Naming of IS66. [2]. 6095299. Nucleotide sequence of the insertion sequence found in the T-DNA region of mutant Ti plasmid pTiA66 and distribution of its homologues in octopine Ti plasmid. Machida Y, Sakurai M, Kiyokawa S, Ubasawa A, Suzuki Y, Ikeda JE;. Proc Natl Acad Sci USA 1984;81:7495-7499. (from Pfam)

IS6 family transposase

IS6 family transposase binds to the end of a transposon and catalyzes the movement of the transposon to another part of the genome by a cut and paste mechanism or a replicative transposition mechanism

IS6-like element IS26 family transposase

Among IS (insertion sequences, a term generally used to refer to simple transposons that encode transposition machinery but lack passenger genes such as drug resistance genes) elements, IS26 is unusual for its frequent occurrence in drug resistance plasmids, and its apparent role in remodeling such plasmids. IS15DI, IS15DII, and IS15DIV appear to be named isoforms of IS26, all > 99.5% nucleotide sequence identity. The related element IS15 appears to represent an insertion of one IS26 into another.
