TraX family protein
This family consists of several bacterial TraX proteins. TraX is responsible for the amino-terminal acetylation of F-pilin subunits [1,2]. [1]. 8444800. type-F conjugative transfer system pilin acetylase TraX
type-F conjugative transfer system pilin acetylase TraX is responsible for the N-terminal acetylation of F pilin
TraX is responsible for the acetylation of the F-pilin TraA during conjugative plasmid transfer. The purpose of this acetylation is unclear, but the reported transcriptional regulation of TraX may indicate that it is involved in the process of pilu extension/retraction [1,2,3].
