POTRA domain-containing protein
This POTRA domain is found in ShlB-like proteins. (from Pfam)
The POTRA domain (for polypeptide-transport-associated domain) is found towards the N-terminus of ShlB family proteins (Pfam:PF03865). ShlB is important in the secretion and activation of the haemolysin ShlA. It has been postulated that the POTRA domain has a chaperone-like function over ShlA; it may fold back into the C-terminal beta-barrel channel [1]. [1]. 14559180. ShlB/FhaC/HecB family hemolysin secretion/activation protein
This family represents a group of sequences that are related to ShlB from Serratia marcescens. ShlB is an outer membrane protein pore involved in the Type Vb or Two-partner secretion system where it is functions to secrete and activate the haemolysin ShlA. The activation of ShlA occurs during secretion when ShlB imposes a conformational change in the inactive haemolysin to form the active protein [1]. [1]. 14688146. ShlB/FhaC/HecB family hemolysin secretion/activation protein similar to the heme/hemopexin transporter HuxB, which functions in the release of soluble HxuA
