helix-turn-helix domain-containing protein

This helix-turn-helix domain is often found in transposases and is likely to be DNA-binding. (from Pfam)

Date:
2024-08-14
Family Accession:
NF024908.5
Method:
HMM

Brinker DNA-binding domain

This DNA-binding domain is the first approx. 100 residues of the N-terminal end of Brinker. The structure of this domain in complex with DNA consists of four alpha-helices that contain a helix-turn-helix DNA recognition motif specific for GC-rich DNA. The Brinker nuclear repressor is a major element of the Drosophila Decapentaplegic morphogen signalling pathway [1]. [1]. 16876822. DNA recognition by the brinker repressor--an extreme case of coupling between binding and folding. Cordier F, Hartmann B, Rogowski M, Affolter M, Grzesiek S;. J Mol Biol. 2006;361:659-672. transposase

Transposase proteins are necessary for efficient DNA transposition. This family consists of various E. coli insertion elements and other bacterial transposases some of which are members of the IS3 family. [1]. 9180700. transposase

transposase binds to the end of a transposon and catalyzes the movement of the transposon to another part of the genome by a cut and paste mechanism or a replicative transposition mechanism; similar to Escherichia coli IS150 protein InsAB
