chorismate-binding protein

This family includes the catalytic regions of the chorismate binding enzymes anthranilate synthase, isochorismate synthase, aminodeoxychorismate synthase and para-aminobenzoate synthase. [1]. 11371633. The structures of anthranilate synthase of Serratia marcescens crystallized in the presence of (i) its substrates, chorismate and glutamine, and a product, glutamate, and (ii) its end-product inhibitor, L-tryptophan. Spraggon G, Kim C, Nguyen-Huu X, Yee MC, Yanofsky C, Mills SE;. Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A 2001;98:6021-6026. [2]. 11450855. A metabolic node in action: chorismate-utilizing enzymes in microorganisms. Dosselaere F, Vanderleyden J;. Crit Rev Microbiol 2001;27:75-131. (from Pfam)

salicylate synthase

Members of this protein family are salicylate synthases, bifunctional enzymes that make salicylate, in two steps, from chorismate. Members are homologous to anthranilate synthase component I from Trp biosynthesis. Members typically are found in gene regions associated with siderophore or other secondary metabolite biosynthesis. Examples with context-specific names include MbtI from mycobactin biosynthesis, YbtS (Irp9) from yersiniabactin biosynthesis, and NbtS from nocobactin NA biosynthesis pathways.

6.

salicylate synthase

salicylate synthase catalyzes the initial conversion of chorismate to yield the intermediate isochorismate (isochorismate synthase activity), and the subsequent elimination of the enolpyruvyl side chain to give salicylate (isochorismate pyruvate-lyase activity)
