2-oxo-4-hydroxy-4-carboxy-5-ureidoimidazoline decarboxylase
The proteins in this family are OHCU decarboxylase - enzymes of the purine catabolism that catalyse the conversion of OHCU into S(+)-allantoin [1]. This is the third step of the conversion of uric acid (a purine derivative) to allantoin. Step one is catalysed by urate oxidase (Pfam:PF01014) and step two is catalysed by HIUases (Pfam:PF00576). polysaccharide deacetylase family protein
This domain is found in polysaccharide deacetylase. This family of polysaccharide deacetylases includes NodB (nodulation protein B from Rhizobium) which is a chitooligosaccharide deacetylase [1]. It also includes chitin deacetylase from yeast [2], and endoxylanases which hydrolyses glucosidic bonds in xylan [3]. [1]. 9163424. Molecular basis of symbiosis between Rhizobium and legumes. CE4_PuuE_SpCDA1 and UHCUDC domain-containing protein
Previously thought to only proceed spontaneously, the decarboxylation of 2-oxo-4-hydroxy-4-carboxy--5-ureidoimidazoline (OHCU) has been recently been shown to be catalyzed by this enzyme in Mus musculus [1]. Homologs of this enzyme are found adjacent to and fused with uricase in a number of prokaryotes and are represented by this model.
allantoinase PuuE
Members of this family are PuuE, an allantoinase unrelated to AllB, described by TIGR03178.
