Glycoside phosphorylase C-terminal domain
Glycoside phosphorylases catalyze the phosphorolysis of oligosaccharides into sugar phosphates [1]. This domain is the C-terminal domain found in the L. phytofermentans SOGP (sophoro-oligosaccharide beta-1,2-gluco-phosphorylase) [1]. Paper describing PDB structure 5h3z. [1]. 28198470. Mechanistic insight into the substrate specificity of 1,2-beta-oligoglucan phosphorylase from Lachnoclostridium phytofermentans. Glycoside phosphorylase supersandwich domain
Glycoside phosphorylases catalyze the phosphorolysis of oligosaccharides into sugar phosphates [1]. This domain is the second of four domains (nDom2) found in the L. phytofermentans SOGP (sophoro-oligosaccharide beta-1,2-gluco-phosphorylase) [1]. This domain shows structural similarity to nDom1 [1]. The third domain is the catalytic GH94 domain [1]. Paper describing PDB structure 5h3z. [1]. 28198470. Mechanistic insight into the substrate specificity of 1,2-beta-oligoglucan phosphorylase from Lachnoclostridium phytofermentans. SOGP N-terminal domain
This is the N-terminal domain of 1,2-beta oligoglucan phosphorylase (SOGP). This enzyme phosphorolyzes beta-1,2-glucooligosaccharides (sophorooligosaccharides, Sops) with degrees of polymerization (DP) of 3 or more. It consists of four domains: two beta-sandwich domains, (alpha/alpha)6 catalytic domain and a beta-sheet domain. The N-terminal domain adopts a supersandwich fold in which 18 beta-strands define two beta-sheets [1]. Paper describing PDB structure 5h3z. [1]. 28198470. Mechanistic insight into the substrate specificity of 1,2-beta-oligoglucan phosphorylase from Lachnoclostridium phytofermentans. Nakajima M, Tanaka N, Furukawa N, Nihira T, Kodutsumi Y, Takahashi Y, Sugimoto N, Miyanaga A, Fushinobu S, Taguchi H, Nakai H;. Sci Rep. 2017;7:42671. (from Pfam)
GH36-type glycosyl hydrolase domain-containing protein
This is the catalytic region of the superfamily of enzymes referred to as GH36. UniProtKB:Q76IQ9 is a chitobiose phosphorylase that catalyses the reversible phosphorolysis of chitobiose into alpha-GlcNAc-1-phosphate and GlcNAc with inversion of the anomeric configuration. The full-length enzyme comprises a beta sandwich domain and an (alpha/alpha)(6) barrel domain. The alpha-helical barrel component of the domain, this family, is the catalytic region [1]. [1]. 15274915. Chitobiose phosphorylase from Vibrio proteolyticus, a member of glycosyl transferase family 36, has a clan GH-L-like (alpha/alpha)(6) barrel fold.
