periplasmic heavy metal sensor
This is a metal-binding protein which is involved in resistance to heavy-metal ions [1,2]. The protein forms a four-helix hooked hairpin, consisting of two long alpha helices each flanked by a shorter alpha helix. It binds a metal ion in a type-2 like centre [3]. It contains two copies of an LTXXQ motif. [1]. 9694902. Spy/CpxP family protein refolding chaperone
This protein family includes two copies of a five residue motif is found in a number of bacterial proteins bearing similarity to the protein CpxP (Swiss:P32158). This is a periplasmic protein that aids in combating extracytoplasmic protein-mediated toxicity, and may also be involved in the response to alkaline pH [1]. Another member of this family, Spy (Swiss:P77754) is also a periplasmic protein that may be involved in the response to stress [2]. The homology between CpxP and Spy may indicate that these two proteins are functionally related [1]. [1]. 9473036. CpxP, a stress-combative member of the Cpx regulon. Danese PN, Silhavy TJ;. CpxP family protein
CpxP family protein such as the cell-envelope stress modulator CpxP, which acts as an auxiliary protein in the Cpx two-component envelope stress response system, helps modulate the Cpx response system's response to some inducers, and contains LTXXQ motifs
