muconolactone Delta-isomerase family protein
This small enzyme forms a homodecameric complex, that catalyses the third step in the catabolism of catechol to succinate- and acetyl-coa in the beta-ketoadipate pathway EC:5.3.3.4. The protein has a ferredoxin-like fold according to SCOP. [1]. 2926818. Crystal structure of muconolactone isomerase at 3.3 A resolution. Katti SK, Katz BA, Wyckoff HW;. J Mol Biol 1989;205:557-571. muconolactone Delta-isomerase
muconolactone Delta-isomerase that catalyzes the reversible conversion of (S)-muconolactone to (4,5-dihydro-5-oxofuran-2-yl)-acetate
Members of this protein family are muconolactone delta-isomerase (EC 5.3.3.4), the CatC protein of the ortho cleavage pathway for metabolizing aromatic compounds by way of catechol.
