TACO1/YebC protein N-terminal domain

This entry represents the N-terminal helical bundle domain from proteins in the TACO1/YebC family which are thought to act as transcriptional regulators. In mammals, The TACO1 protein activates the translation of mitochondrially-encoded COX1 [2,4]. In bacteria, it negatively regulates the quorum-sensing response regulator by binding to its promoter region [3]. [1]. 12060744. YebC/PmpR family DNA-binding transcriptional regulator

This is a family of transcriptional regulators. In mammals, it activates the transcription of mitochondrially-encoded COX1 [2]. In bacteria, it negatively regulates the quorum-sensing response regulator by binding to its promoter region [3]. This entry represents the second and third domains in this protein, with one domain nested within the other. [1]. 12060744. YebC/PmpR family DNA-binding transcriptional regulator

This model describes a minimally characterized protein family, restricted to bacteria excepting for some eukaryotic sequences that have possible transit peptides. YebC from E. coli is crystallized, and PA0964 from Pseudomonas aeruginosa has been shown to be a sequence-specific DNA-binding regulatory protein. In silico analysis suggests a role in Holliday junction resolution.
