show Abstracthide AbstractThis is a reference genome from a study of rhizosphere soil microbial communities to investigate soil carbon and nitrogen biogeochemistry under changing climatic conditions. Our investigation focuses on the organisms and metabolic processes underlying large pulses of carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide observed during wet-dry-wet precipitation cycles in a model Mediterranean grassland system. We aim to better predict carbon turnover in soil ecosystems as affected by shifting precipitation regimes. We aim to characterize the succession of microorganisms and their metabolic functions during the acceleration of root litter decomposition in the grassland rhizosphere.
