Study: Wallemia mellicola genome sequencing and assembly of 25 environmental strains
show Abstracthide Abstract
Wallemia mellicola (formerly W. sebi) is an osmophilic basidiomycete with an isolated taxonomic position in the subphylum Wallemiomycotina (with only a few other species in the genus belonging to the same subphylum). The species was described as the causal agent of some human respiratory diseases. 25 environmental isolates were genome sequenced to investigate the population structure of the species and to facilitate future studies of this unusual basidiomycete.
