SRX10525456: Spinach leaf bacterial microbiome
1 ILLUMINA (NextSeq 500) run: 33.1M spots, 9.8G bases, 4Gb downloads

Design: 25 grams spinach were mixed with 225 ml diluent (0.1% peptone water and 0.1% Tween 80) in a stomacher bag. (...) The suspensions were passed through a 40 m membrane filter to remove large leave debris, followed by membrane filtration using a 0.22 m filter to collect the bacterial cells. The membrane carrying bacterial cells was removed from the filtration unit and cut into small pieces for DNA isolation. Metagenomic DNA was extracted using the Zymobiomics kit following the manufacturers instructions. Sequencing libraries were prepared using NEBNext Ultra II DNA Prep kit for Illumina. DNA sequencing was performed in Illumina NextSeq 500 instrument using mid output kit (2 150bp) at the Genomics Core Laboratory at UAMS

Study: Assessment of Antibiotic Resistance in Vegetables in the United States
show Abstracthide Abstract
Bacterial strains resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics were isolated from vegetables in the United States. Shotgun metagenomic sequencing of microbiome from vegetables was performed.
