Study: Comparative genomics of canine and human Staphylococcus pseudintermedius
show Abstracthide Abstract
Staphylococcus pseudintermedius is a major pathogen in dogs and occasionally found in human infections. Multidrug resistance (MDR) is frequent in methicillin-resistant S. pseudintermedius (MRSP) but is also found in methicillin-susceptible S. pseudintermedius (MSSP). In humans, S. pseudintermedius is occasionally found as an opportunistic pathogen in elderly and immunocompromised patients. This study aims to compare canine and human S. pseudintermedius strains by analysing the genomic relatedness, antimicrobial resistance genes, gene content, and identifying features of host association.
