Design: DNA was extracted using Promega's Maxwell RSC Whole Blood DNA kit and the library was prepared with Illumina's Nextera DNA Flex library prep kit including Nextera DNA CD indices. Paired-end sequencing (2x250 bp) was done on a MiSeq with V2 chemistry.

This study investigated the prevalence of colistine-resistant and carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales (Col-E, CPE) on approx. 180 poultry farms in Lower Saxony (North-West Germany) as well as among directly exposed humans on these farms on a voluntary basis. Isolates from humans stool samples (farmers, relatives, workers) and farms were compared using core genome multilocus-sequence typing (cgMLST) and plasmid-typing. This study was carried out by the LAVES, NLGA and WWU in cooperation with additional partners.
