arsenical-resistance protein; The Arsenical Resistance-3 (ACR3) Family (TC 2.A.59) The first protein of the ACR3 family functionally characterized was the ACR3 protein of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is present in the yeast plasma membrane and pumps arsenite out of the cell in response to the pmf. Similar proteins are found in bacteria, often as part of a four gene operon with an regulatory protein ArsR, a protein of unknown function ArsH, and an arsenate reductase that converts arsenate to arsenite to facilitate transport. Sodium Bile acid symporter family; This family consists of Na+/bile acid co-transporters. These transmembrane proteins function in the liver in the uptake of bile acids from portal blood plasma a process mediated by the co-transport of Na+. Also in the family is ARC3 from S. cerevisiae; this is a putative transmembrane protein involved in resistance to arsenic compounds.
