This protein may also be involved in the regulation of purine biosynthesis. YjgF (renamed RidA) family members are enamine/imine deaminases. They hydrolyze reactive intermediates released by PLP-dependent enzymes, including threonine dehydratase. YjgF also prevents inhibition of transaminase B (IlvE) in Salmonella.
