MSCRAMM family adhesin SdrD; Features of this protein family include a YSIRK-type signal peptide at the N-terminus and a variable-length C-terminal region of Ser-Asp (SD) repeats followed by an LPXTG motif for surface immobilization by sortase. The actual alignment was detected with superfamily member NF012181: Pssm-ID: 467951 [Multi-domain] Cd Length: 1379 Bit Score: 138.79 E-value: 4.81e-39

MSCRAMM family adhesin clumping factor ClfA; Clumping factor A is an MSCRAMM (Microbial Surface Components Recognizing Adhesive Matrix Molecules). It is heavily studied in Staphylococcus aureus both for its biological role in adhesion and for its potential for vaccination. Features of the sequence, but also of other MSCRAMM adhesins, include a long run of Ser-Asp dipeptide repeats and a C-terminal cell wall anchoring LPXTG motif. Pssm-ID: 468110 [Multi-domain] Cd Length: 934 Bit Score: 41.82 E-value: 4.28e-05

95-129 | 2.85e-03 | |||
LPXTG-motif cell wall anchor domain; This model describes the LPXTG motif-containing region found at the C-terminus of many surface proteins of Streptococcus and Streptomyces species. Cleavage between the Thr and Gly by sortase or a related enzyme leads to covalent anchoring at the new C-terminal Thr to the cell wall. Hits that do not lie at the C-terminus or are not found in Gram-positive bacteria are probably false-positive. A common feature of this proteins containing this domain appears to be a high proportion of charged and zwitterionic residues immediatedly upstream of the LPXTG motif. This model differs from other descriptions of the LPXTG region by including a portion of that upstream charged region. [Cell envelope, Other] Pssm-ID: 273478 [Multi-domain] Cd Length: 34 Bit Score: 33.22 E-value: 2.85e-03
