Structure analysis reveals that the Arb2 domain has clear homology to alpha/beta-hydrolases but that it is lacking the catalytic triad of these enzymes. SHREC (Snf2/Hdac Repressive) complex in fission yeast drives transcriptional gene silencing in heterochromatin.
