This family describes a branch of the aldehyde dehydrogenase (NAD) family (see pfam00171) that includes Rv0768 from Mycobacterium tuberculosis. All members of this family belong to species predicted to synthesize mycofactocin, suggesting that this enzyme or another upstream or downstream in the same pathway might be mycofactocin-dependent.
