Known members of this family are restricted to Salmonella enterica. Activities as both a streptomycin 3''-O-adenylyltransferase and a spectinomycin 9-O-adenylyltransferase are cryptic because of a lack of expression, but detected if cells are grown on miminal rather than rich media (see PMID:21507083).
