This family consists of uncharacterized proteins around 500 residues in length and is mainly found in various Bacteria species, such as Thermotoga, Paenibacillus and Rhodothermus. A newly recognized enzyme from the galacturonate utilization pathway in T. maritima with tagaturonate epimerase activity.
