AKR5D and AKR5E families of aldo-keto reductase (AKR)
2,5-diketo-D-gluconic acid reductase B (DkgB) from Corynebacterium sp. and 2,5-diketo-D-gluconic acid reductase Zymomonas mobilis are founding members of aldo-keto reductase family 5 member D1 (AKR5D1) and E1 (AKR5E1), respectively. DkgB (EC 1.1.1.274), also called 2,5-didehydrogluconate reductase (2-dehydro-D-gluconate-forming), or 2,5-DKG reductase B, or 2,5-DKGR B, or 25DKGR-B, catalyzes the reduction of 2,5-diketo-D-gluconic acid (25DKG) to 2-keto-L-gulonic acid (2KLG).
