D-Alanine aminotransferase (D-AAT_like): D-amino acid aminotransferase catalyzes transamination between D-amino acids and their respective alpha-keto acids. It plays a major role in the synthesis of bacterial cell wall components like D-alanine and D-glutamate in addition to other D-amino acids. The enzyme like other members of this superfamily requires PLP as a cofactor. Members of this subgroup are found in all three forms of life.
