CysQ, a 3'-Phosphoadenosine-5'-phosphosulfate (PAPS) 3'-phosphatase, is a bacterial member of the inositol monophosphatase family. It has been proposed that CysQ helps control intracellular levels of PAPS, which is an intermediate in cysteine biosynthesis (a principal route of sulfur assimilation).
