The iron starvation response of the Staphylococcus aureus hemB small colony variant (SCV)

(Submitter supplied) Respiration deficient S. aureus small colony variants (SCVs) frequently cause persistent infections, which necessitates they acquire iron, yet how SCVs obtain iron remains unknown.
