Analysis of clinical bladder cancer classification according to microarray expression profiles

(Submitter supplied) Using Affymetrix microarray technology we analyzed the gene expression profiles of the most important pathological categories of bladder cancer in order to detect potential marker genes. Applying an unsupervised cluster algorithm we observed clear differences between tumor and control samples, as well as between superficial and muscle invasive tumors. According to cluster results, the T1 high grade tumor type presented a global genetic profile which could not be distinguished from invasive cases. more...

Gene expression profile of Transgenic Adenocarcinoma of the Mouse Prostate (TRAMP)

(Submitter supplied) Gene expression profile of Transgenic Adenocarcinoma of the Mouse Prostate (TRAMP) reveals murine targets for preclinical development of human prostate cancer therapy In this study, we have generated an open source TRAMP microarray dataset to identify differentially expressed genes from human prostate cancer that have concordant expression in TRAMP tumors, and thereby represent lead targets for preclinical therapy development. more...

Gene expression profiling of prostate cancer

(Submitter supplied) To better understand the molecular mechanism that underlay tumorigenesis and progression of prostate cancer (PCa), we studied the gene expression profiles of sixteen PCa compared to their matched normal tissues. Using Significance Analysis of Microarrays, we identified 53 genes differentially expressed that were more than 2 fold up- or down-regulated in at least 50 % of the tumors. Ductal Carcinoma Progression

(Submitter supplied) To obtain insight into the molecular basis of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) and its progression by infiltrating surrounding tissue, we have performed cellular-based gene expression analysis of pure DCIS and DCIS with co-existing invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) and compared the histological and molecular aspects between these morphologically identical lesions seeking to find key genes involved in DCIS progression. more...

Expression data from Lung cancer

(Submitter supplied) Detection, treatment, and prediction of outcome for lung cancer patients increasingly depend on a molecular understanding of tumor development and sensitivity of lung cancer to therapeutic drugs. The application of genomic technologies, such as microarray, is widely used to monitor global gene expression and has built up invaluable information and knowledge, which is essential to the discovery of new insights into the mechanisms common to cancer cells, resulting in the identification of unique, identifiable signatures and specific characteristics. more...

Impact of RNA degradation on gene expression profiling

(Submitter supplied) 1.) Background: Gene expression profiling is a highly sensitive technique which is used for profiling of tumor samples for medical prognosis. RNA quality and degradation influences the analysis results of gene expression profiles. The impact of this influence on the profiles and its medical impact is not fully understood. As patient samples are very valuable for clinical studies, it is necessary to establish criteria for the RNA quality to use these samples in later analysis. more...

Longitudinal study of gene expression in healthy individuals

(Submitter supplied) The gene expression profile of blood drawn from healthy individuals was studied over a period of six months, at five time points. The gene expression profiles appeared to be constant over one month and to slightly vary over three months. A small proportion of genes were found to be differentially regulated according to gender. Differential gene regulation by age (in subjects 25–55 years of age versus subjects > 55 years of age) was not observed. more...
