Expression data from poplar roots under nitrogen limitation

(Submitter supplied) We study the effect of nitrogen limitation on the growth and development of poplar roots. We used microarrays to detail the global program of gene expression underlying morphological and developmental changes driven by low nitrogen in the growth media. We report the effect of nitrogen limitation on the growth and development of poplar roots. Low nitrogen concentration led to increased root elongation followed by lateral root proliferation and finally increased root biomass. more...

Transcriptional profiling analysis in Populus yunnanensis provides insights into the molecular mechanisms of sexual differences in plant salinity tolerance

(Submitter supplied) In the present study, we compared transcriptional response to salinity between male and female individuals of Populus yunnanensis. We found that several functional groups of genes involved in important pathways were differentially expressed, including photosynthesis-related genes which were mainly up-regulated in males but down-regulated in females. This gene expression pattern is consistent with physiological observation that salinity inhibited photosynthetic capacity more in females than in males. more...

Expression data from wild type (No-0) and fbs1-1 insertion line whole Arabidopsis seedlings in cold

(Submitter supplied) The ubiquitin 26S proteasome system (UPS) selectively degrades cellular proteins, which results in physiological changes to eukaryotic cells. F-box proteins are substrate adaptors acting within the UPS and are responsible for the diversity of potential protein targets. Plant genomes are enriched in F-box genes, but the vast majority of these have unknown roles. This work investigated the Arabidopsis F-box gene F-BOX STRESS INDUCED 1 (FBS1) by identifying differentially expressed genes between wild type (No-0) and an fbs1 insertion line. more...

profiling of an organ-specific sunflower transcriptoma under abiotic stress (salinity and cold conditions)

(Submitter supplied) Sunflower is an important source of vegetable oil worlwide. A differential organ-specific sunflower ESTs was previously generated by a subtractive hybridization method, including a considerable number of abiotic stress associated sequences. The objective of this work is to analyze the sunflower gene expression of previously identified candidate genes under a comprehensive microarray analysis of the leaf transcriptoma under cold and salinity stresses, considering the impacts of these abiotic stresses on sunflower yield in many productive areas. more...

Transcriptome analysis reveals crosstalk of responsive genes to multiple abiotic stresses in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

(Submitter supplied) Abiotic stress is a major environmental factor that limits cotton growth and yield, moreover, this problem has become more and more serious recently and multiple stresses often occur simultaneously due to the global climate change and environmental pollution. We used microarrays to analyze the crosstalk of responsive genes to multiple abiotic stresses including ABA, cold, drought, salinity and alkalinity in cotton.

Transcriptome profiling of abiotic responses to heat, cold, salt, and osmotic stress of Capsicum annuum L.

(Submitter supplied) We sought to investigate the scope of transcriptome analyses of peppers subjected to four major environment stresses (heat, cold, drought, and salinity). For this, at the six-true-leaf stage, plants were subjected to a temperature of 10°C or 40°C to mimic cold or heat stress, respectively. For salinity stress, plants were treated with 50 mL of a 400 mM NaCl solution; for osmotic stress, the peppers were treated with 50 mL of 400 mM mannitol. more...

Genome-wide investigation of pentatricopeptide repeat (PPR) gene family in poplar and their expression analysis in response to biotic and abiotic stresses

(Submitter supplied) Pentatricopeptide repeat (PPR) proteins, which are characterized by tandem 30-40 amino acid sequence motifs, constitute a large gene family in plants. These known PPR proteins have been identified to play important roles in organellar RNA metabolism and plant development in Arabidopsis and rice. However, functions of PPR genes in woody species remain still largely unknown. Here, we identified and characterized a total of 626 PPR genes containing PPR motifs in the poplar genome. more...

Gene expression study after 3 days of salt exposure in a Solanum tuberosum cultivar called Desirée

(Submitter supplied) The molecular response to salt exposure was studied in the leaves of an S. tuberosum clone using cDNA microarray. Differentially expressed genes were classified according to their known or predicted function and their expression ratio as compared to the control. The major changes upon a 150 mM NaCl exposure in potato leaves occurred in the photosystem apparatus and Calvin cycle: many transcripts coding for proteins belonging to photosystems I and II and chlorophyll synthesis were repressed, whereas cell rescue and transcription factor-related genes were mostly up-regulated. more...
