Partial recovery of myelin genes is seen in LIF-/- mice by postnatal day 14 in the optic nerve. Very little difference in myelin genes in the optic nerve is seen by postnatal day 35 (adult).

(Submitter supplied) We report the application of RNA-sequencing technology for the high-throughput profiling of mammalian lens gene expression at embryonic day 15.5. The lens has a particularly biased transcriptome, with the top 50 genes encoding approximately 90% of the protein content. Using RNA-Seq, we have shown that there are over 7,700 genes being expressed in the lens at embryonic day 15.5. As expected, the crystallins and many structural genes were amoung the most highly expressed; however, numerous genes expressed at lower transcript abundance were also identified. more...

Here we report that PARP1 is an intrinsic driver for oligodendroglial development and myelination. (Submitter supplied) Radial progenitors deficient in both Mek1 and Mek2 fail to transition to the gliogenic mode in late embryogenesis, and astrocyte and oligodendroglial precursors fail to appear. In exploring mechanisms, we found the Ets transcription family member Etv5/Erm is strongly regulated by MEK. Our microarray assay showed that Erm is specifically downregulated in Mek mutant brain.
