Summary |
We have constructed a transcriptomic map of airways using lung tissues from three COPD (GOLD grade I) who underwent surgical resection for lung cancer. We performed 5' single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) on three COPD and three control matched lung tissue, as well as the organoid samples.

Overall design |
COPD and control lung tissues were obtained from the surgical specimens of patients with primary lung cancer while non-cancer tissue was obtained from lung periphery as distal to the cancer site as possible. COPD was diagnosed on the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease criteria. We performed single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) on three COPD and three control matched lung tissue, as well as the organoid samples. All three COPD patients had GOLD grade1, with two showing evidence of emphysema on the chest CT scans. Except for one control participant, all participants had a history of smoking.
