Treatment protocol Mice were fed for three generations with either feed B, K or G. Samples were derived from seven week old male mice of the third generation without randomization regarding the day time of sampling.
Growth protocol Mice were housed in macrolon cages III under a 12h/12h light/dark cycle. Feed and water were given ad libidum.
Extracted molecule total RNA
Extraction protocol Mice were sacrificed by vetebral dislocation. The small intestine beginning from the pylorus to the ileocaecal junction was dissected immediately and divided into two fragments of similar length. A 2 cm segment of the jejunum covering the 1 cm proximal and 1 cm distal regions around the angular point was dissected. Tissue samples were shock frozen in 2-methyl-butane (Merck, Darmstadt, Germany) cooled with liquid nitrogen. Aproximately 50 mg of jejunum were used for RNA isolation with Trizol (Invitrogen) and purification with QIAgen RNeasy Mini Kit (Qiagen). 40 µg of RNA was used for microarray analysis.
