Treatment protocol |
Blood was sampled from antecubital vein of each subject while seated. The subjects were asked to avoid vigorous physical activity in the 24 h before blood sampling and to fasten from the evening meal until the morning, when samples were obtained.

Extraction protocol |
Total RNA was isolated from each of the two blood samples using Tempus Spin RNA Isolation Kit (Applied Biosystems) as specified in the manufacturer's guidelines. To improve the detection sensitivity of transcripts on microarrays globin mRNA was depleted from a portion of each total RNA sample isolated from TEMPUS Blood RNA tubes using the GLOBINclearâ„¢-Human kit (Ambion, TX).
