Characteristics A pool of Pseudomonas aeruignosa was purified from CF sputum patient 42 and grown in minimal media with 20 mM citrate. This is our in vitro grown sample.

Treatment protocol Sputum samples were maintained on ice at all times. Sputum was treated with Sputolysin, proteinase K, DNase I, and pelleted. Cell pellet was washed twice with COLD double distilled water and a 100 ul aliquot plated on PIA media for generation of a pool to be stored for in vitro studies. Colonies were pooled and grown for 1 hr in PIA and then frozen away at -80 in small 250 ul aliquots. One aliquot was used for each GeneChip study.
