Extraction protocol Gastrocnemius-soleus muscles were powdered in the liquid nitrogen and Trizol extraction of total RNA was performed according to the manufacturer's instructions. Total RNA were further subject a cleanup protocol using a Qiagen Rneasy minikit.
Label Biotin
Label protocol Biotinylated cRNA were prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions (One-Cycle Target Labeling kit, Affymetrix,Inc.)
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, labeled cRNA were hybridized at 45°C for approximately 16 hr to Gene Chip Mouse Genome 430 2.0 Expression Array (Affymetrix). The arrays were stained on Gene Chip Fluidics Workstation 450.
Scan protocol Gene Chips were scanned using the affymetrix GeneArray Scanner 3000.
Description Expression profiles generated from the gastrocnemicus and soleus muscles from integrin alpha7 transgenic mice
Data processing The scanned image was converted into numerical values of the signal intensity (Signal) and into categorical expression level measurement (Absolute Call) using the Affymetrix GCOS V1.1.1 software with default parameters.
