Extraction protocol Total RNA was extracted in TRI-Reagent (Sigma) according to manufacturer's instructions, followed by a second round of RNA precipitation with 10 M ammonium acetate and ethanol before resuspending RNA pellet in water.
Label biotin
Label protocol Biotinylated cRNA was prepared from total RNA according to the standard Affymetrix protocol.
 
Hybridization protocol Following fragmentation, 10 µg of cRNA was hybridized for 16 hr at 45°C on GeneChip Drosophila Genome 2.0 Array. GeneChips were washed and stained in the Affymetrix Fluidics Station 450.
Scan protocol GeneChips were scanned using the Hewlett-Packard GeneArray Scanner 3000.
Description Calment 1
Data processing Data was analyzed with the affy package (version 1.36.0) of BioConductor (www.bioconductor.org) to obtain RMA expression values. MAS 5.0 detection calls (Affymetrix) were used to determine if signals were significantly above background.
